Our Salaf at the time of Earthquake

leave a comment »

It is authentically reported that the Rightly-Guided Caliph, Amir Al-Mu’minin (Commander of the Believers), ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdul-‘Aziz (رحمه الله), when there was an earthquake during his era, wrote to his agents in the different countries and ordered them to tell the Muslims to make Tawbah to Allaah, humble themselves to Him, and seek His Forgiveness from their sins.

It is the scholars that I seek out in every land

Abu al-Malih al-Hasan ibn ‘Umar (رحمه الله تعالى) said: I heard Maymun ibn Mihran (رحمه الله تعالى) say:

“It is the scholars that I seek out in every land, they are my desire and I found the rectification of my heart to lie in associating with the scholars.”

Jabir bin ‘Abdullah reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying while the bier of Sa’d bin Mu’adh was placed before them:

“The ‘Arsh (Throne) of ar-Rahmaan (i.e. Allaah) shook at the death of S’ad Ibn Mu’adh (رضي الله عنه)”

Ali bin Zaid said:

Like the sun is to the world, and like good health is to mankind – ash-Shafi’ee

with one comment

It is mentioned about al-Imam ash-Shafi’ee

Muhammad ibn Haroon az-Zinjaani relates: ‘Abdullaah ibn Ahmad reported to us:

I said to my father (Imam Ahmad (رحمه الله تعالى)), “What sort of man was ash-Shafi’ee, for I hear you frequently supplicate for him?”

He (Imam Ahmad (رحمه الله تعالى)) said,

“O my son, he was like the sun is to the world, and like good health is to mankind. Is there anything that can take their place or any alternative that can be found for them.”

Prophet Dawud – The One with a Beautiful Voice

leave a comment »

As for Allaah’s saying: {O you mountains. Glorify (Allaah) with him! And you birds (also)!} (Qur’an 34:10).

The birds also used to glorify Allaah’s praises with him. If a bird flew by him and heard him chanting the Zabur, it would not go away; instead it would stay hovering in the air, glorifying Allaah along with him. And the lofty mountains would respond to him and echo his glorification of Allaah.

[Source: Tafseer Ibn Katheer, Daar at-Tayyibah, (7/57)]

As for Allaah’s saying: {We subjected the mountains to give glory with him in the evening and at sunrise.} (Qur’an 38:18).

Ibn ‘Abbas, Mujahid and others said: Allaah had granted David good voice, that whenever he recite his Book (i.e. Zabur), the birds stopped in the air echoing with him and glorifying Allaah with him. The mountains as well joined him in praise and glorification of Allaah, every morning and every evening.

Awzaa’i said: Abdullaah bin ‘Aamir informed me, saying: David was given such a beautiful voice that no one had ever been granted before. Even the birds and wild animals would join him.

Umm Sulaym bint Milhaan – A True Muslimah

leave a comment »

Umm Sulaym bint Milhaan (رضي الله عنها) is a Muslimah about whom every Muslimah should know. She (رضي الله عنها) was from among the best women companion of the Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه و سلم).

This noble soul was always with the Muslim army, taking care of the wounded soldiers more than 12 or 13 centuries before Florence Nightingale. [See Saheeh Muslim 3/1443 (no. 1810)]

In fact, even in the two most fierce battles entered by the Muslims, when defeat was close, this woman (رضي الله عنها) was in the battlefield steady like a rock while many a courageous man was fleeing under the shock of the surprise attack by the enemy. During the battle of Uhud, A’isha bint Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنها) and this woman, both of them had tucked up their garments, and they were carrying water-skins on their backs and would pour water into the mouths of the people. They would then go back (to the well), would fill them again and would return to pour water into the mouths of the soldiers. [See Saheeh Muslim 3/1443 (no. 1811)]
